All courses taken in the fall 2020 semester as part of the Iowa State International Adventure Learning Community will be online courses, billed at the Iowa resident rate of tuition, and will include resident tuition, a technology fee, delivery fees for each course taken, and a one-time records fee. Students maintaining full-time status of 12 credit hours or more will be charged approximately $5,500 in tuition and fees. For detailed tuition and fee costs please visit Iowa State University's Online and Distance Learning site. Final tuition rates for fall 2020 are expected to be available in June.
Students will resume the appropriate tuition rate once arriving on-campus for in-person courses. This is the international tuition rate and fees for international students, or the non-resident tuition rate and fees for US residents living abroad.
|Technology Fee||$145 - $253 (varies by major)|
|Delivery Fee||$140 - $300 per. course|
|Books and Supplies||$400|
Most scholarship awards at Iowa State University are based on the rate of tuition a student is assessed. Students who have been offered academic scholarships based on international or non-resident tuition will not receive these scholarships while paying the Iowa resident rate of tuition. Once the student arrives on-campus and resumes international or non-resident tuition rates and fees, freshman students will resume their scholarship for eight consecutive semesters, and transfer students for five consecutive semesters. Students who have received scholarships from their department, college or other university offices should contact the administrator of those scholarships to determine how they may be impacted by the student's solely online coursework at the Iowa resident tuition rate.
Students who register for the Iowa State International Adventure Learning Community will immediately be registered for UST123: Introduction to ISU. Students will then be directed to complete placement examinations in English and mathematics, and will be placed in appropriate courses based on the results of these exams. Students must be able to access the Canvas Learning Platform to complete UST 123, and other online courses.
The courses available through the Iowa State International Adventure Learning Community support the degree attainment of students in the identified academic programs. Due to the nature of online coursework, some students may not take a “typical” first-year course schedule, as some courses better lend themselves to an online mode of instruction. Iowa State advisers will assist students in selecting future courses to ensure appropriate progress toward the student’s selected degree.
A change in academic major could result in additional time to degree. All courses in the Iowa State International Adventure Learning Community have been selected based on their utility in a variety of majors at Iowa State, and will count as elective credit toward all degrees.
