Choosing Iowa State
Why Iowa State?
Iowa State is one of the nation's leading land-grant universities, preparing students to create, share, and apply knowledge to make Iowa and the world a better place.
Visiting Campus
Our campus visits program is a convenient and fun way to gather information about Iowa State University. We have a variety of campus visit options depending on your interests and needs.
A daily campus visit includes an enrollment presentation, campus tour, and residence hall tour. Students can also arrange to meet with an adviser or professor in their academic area of choice.
Experience Iowa State days contain all the events of a regular daily campus visit, but also gives students an opportunity to sit in on a class and ask questions to a panel of current Iowa State students.
Transfer students are encouraged to attend one of our Transfer Student Visit Days, where they will get a chance to talk with other transfer students in a small group setting. Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to contact the admissions to schedule a customized visit.
Academic Success
A rich tradition of academic success is just one of the many reasons more than 25,000 students have chosen to continue their education at Iowa State. The university is committed to helping students accomplish their academic goals. Departments such as the Academic Success Center, Disability Resources, and Learning Communities provide interactive learning environments, tutoring, academic consulting, and supplemental instruction.
Financing your Child's Education
The Office of Student Financial Aid answers a variety of questions about costs and financial aid, as well as providing information about student loans and scholarship opportunities.
Iowa State's Four-Year Graduation Plan
Iowa State is committed to helping students develop their potential, expand their interests, and reach their educational goals in a timely manner. The Four-Year Graduation Plan has been developed as an additional way to help students monitor their academic progress and incorporate off-campus opportunities such as study abroad and internships. All students will work closely with academic advisers to plan their degree programs, select courses, register for classes, and monitor their progress.
