College of Liberal Arts and Sciences: Dance (Performing Arts)

The emphasis in dance at Iowa State offers a unique opportunity for you to discover and develop your dance talents as both a performer and choreographer. Your coursework will include a comprehensive view of dance as an art form and physical skill, as well as the opportunity to develop skills in choreography and staging movement in choreography classes, studio concerts, and special projects. To enhance your ability to perform and choreograph, you are encouraged to participate in Orchesis I, Orchesis II, or the Iowa State Dance Tour Company. Yearly guest artists are involved with coaching, teaching, and choreography. The dance emphasis is offered through the performing arts program. You can also minor in dance through the Department of Kinesiology. For more information about the emphasis/minor in dance, you may contact Janice Baker at or 515 294-3047.
