College of Business: Supply Chain Management

As a supply chain management major you will study the efficient flow of materials, products, and information within and among organizations and companies. Your coursework will include studies in demand planning, purchasing, inventory control, material handling, product and service support, and information technology. You will choose from two areas of specialization: logistics and operations. The logistics option focuses on transportation, distribution, warehousing, and packaging. The operations option focuses on the analysis, design, implementation, planning, and improvement of manufacturing and service processes. A degree in supply chain management from Iowa State will prepare you for a variety of careers with manufacturers, distributors, transportation carriers, logistics service providers, and consulting firms.
