College of Human Sciences: Athletic Training

As an athletic training major you will study the prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to athletes and others who are engaged in everyday physical activities. Your coursework will include studies in physiology, nutrition, chemistry, biomechanics, and evaluation of athletic injuries. As a student in the accredited Athletic Training Education Program at Iowa State, you will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through clinical rotations in areas such as the ISU athletic training rooms, local high schools, physical therapy clinics, physician clinics, emergency rooms, and Drake University;  you will perform these rotations under the supervision of certified athletic trainers, physicians, and other allied health care professionals.
