College of Human Sciences: Early Childhood Education (teacher licensure)

The curriculum in early childhood education prepares you to work with children from birth through third grade in both general and special education. In addition to your coursework you will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience in the ISU Child Development Laboratory School and elementary schools. This program will prepare you for licensure to teach in early childhood (preschool and primary) classrooms or home-based programs, with emphasis on inclusive services. The early childhood education program is administered jointly by the School of Education and the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. As a graduate you will be prepared to work in early intervention programs, preschool, and primary classrooms that may include children with special needs.
