The apparel merchandising, design, and production major provides students with a unique perspective on the competitive, consumer-driven marketplace. The apparel and textile industry operates in a global market, which makes the understanding of cultural diversity and the world economy essential.
You will study fashion design, product development, merchandising and marketing strategies, production processes, business practices, and consumer behavior.
Possible career options include retail buyer, marketing director, apparel / textiles sales representative, special events coordinator, sales manager, fashion coordinator, merchandise manager, store owner / manager, fashion forecaster, visual merchandiser, and many more.
The apparel merchandising, design, and production program at Iowa State is one of only ten programs in the nation approved by the American Apparel Manufacturers Association.
