College of Agriculture and Life Sciences: Agriculture and Society

In the agriculture and society program you will study the social, political, and economic forces that affect rural communities and agriculture. Your coursework will emphasize social and economic change, complex organizations, interagency relationships, community leadership, community action, and political and legal issues related to agriculture and rural development. This interdisciplinary curriculum will prepare you to pursue a career with agriculture-related governmental and private agencies or with business and industry concerned with agriculture. Your coursework will encourage you to explore planning and implementing of rural and agriculture-related programs in organizations, communities, multicounty areas, state regions, and at the federal level.
