Learning Communities

Iowa State's learning communities can help make your academic adventure complete. A learning community is a small group of students who generally take two or three courses together and may also live together (or near each other) in the same residence hall.

Team up for adventure!

When learning communities started at Iowa State in 1995, there were 12. Now Iowa State's learning communities program has grown to more than 70, and more than half of entering first year students participates. U.S.News & World Report recognizes Iowa State's learning communities as one of the top 25 programs in the nation.

All learning communities make getting involved with a cohesive, supportive group easy, without being exclusive. Learning communities are just one part of the total college adventure.
